Text Box: Qualifications
In addition to being ACC Certified and HACCP trained, I have more than 27 years of experience in all phases of aquaculture production (finfish and shrimp) and relevant experience in dozens of countries at hundreds of farms.   I am also a USFWS Title 50 Certifying Official and a Fish Health Official for Canada. See my resume for more details.
Text Box: How do your customers know that you are certified?
There are a number of ways that this takes place.  The first is that you  are listed on the ACC web site (http://www.aquaculturecertification.org/). Additionally there are a number of other options open to you.  These are explained in depth at the URL above.

Text Box: How often is this required?
This is an annual process.
Text Box: Why get Certified?
At this time, several very large organizations are requiring that companies that sell them shrimp are certified.  This trend is likely to continue as it confers a market advantage to those companies that are certified.
Text Box: What is the Process?
The certification process, at this time, is for shrimp farms, hatcheries, and processing plants.  The process involves an independent contractor visiting the facility and conducting an audit of the operational practices to ensure that they are in compliance with best management practices (BMPs) as well as responsible social and environmental guidelines   These range from ensuring that employees are properly compensated for their work and treated with respect  to ensuring that effluents are monitored (where appropriate) and that mangroves have not been cut to facilitate the construction of the facility and that in those cases where they have been that there is an active program to replace them.
Text Box: What is the ACC?
The Aquaculture Certification Council (ACC) is a non-profit non-government organization that promotes responsible aquaculture practices.
Text Box: List of Clients
To date I have audited eleven processing plants (four in Thailand, four in China, two in Indonesia and one in Bangladesh). I have certified two farms in Thailand and pre audited one farm in Indonesia.
