It is effective against the entire spectrum of viruses, bacteria and fungi that can cause disease in farmed animals such as poultry, swine, beef, fish and shrimp. It is used the treatment of filamentous bacterial gill disease in trout and other fish species. It has also been widely used in SE Asia in shrimp ponds and hatcheries. The chemical is a “tamed” chlorine compound with a low level of toxicity and thus a high margin of safety. It is not an antibiotic and breaks down into harmless components as the chlorine present does its job. It is used in PL tanks, for elimination of all bacteria from the hatched Artemia to produce vibrio free Artemia cysts and disinfection of floors, foot baths, water, animals, etc.
